Book I’m Glad I Finally Picked Up
Historic Cyprus by Rupert Gunnis is part travel guide, part historical treasure map. Originally published in 1936 by a British antiquities officer, it captures the rich tapestry of Cyprus through detailed, often quirky descriptions of castles, churches, ruins, and towns—including many in and around Paphos.
If you’ve ever sat in a local café in Old Town Paphos and thought, “This place has layers,” this book explains some of them. A charming read if you love history served with personality—and a little eccentricity.
