Key December Bank Holidays

Cyprus observes five official bank holidays in December:

  • 24 December — Christmas Eve
  • 25 December — Christmas Day
  • 26 December — Boxing Day
  • 1 January — New Year’s Day
  • 6 January — Epiphany (Theophany)

These dates often bring further closures or reduced hours. Many businesses close for longer than the official holidays, meaning government offices, banks, and some private companies may operate on limited hours from December 23rd – January 7th.

Paphos Property Market Update
The Paphos real estate market continues to show strong momentum as we move into December. Demand from international buyers remains one of the most significant drivers of activity, with Paphos consistently leading Cyprus in foreign buyer interest. High demand for quality villas, holiday homes, and permanent-residence properties continues to support the market. Recent national figures indicate that Cyprus has recorded strong property transfer volumes this year, with total real estate activity increasing compared to the previous period. Paphos remains one of the most resilient and popular regions, benefiting from its lifestyle appeal, strong rental market, and ongoing infrastructure improvements.A notable trend this season is the difference between house and apartment price movements. Detached homes and villas continue to show upward price pressure due to limited supply and sustained buyer demand, while apartment prices remain relatively stable, offering good opportunities for investors seeking rental income or entry-level properties. Sustainability features are also becoming more important. Energy-efficient homes, upgraded insulation, photovoltaic systems, and modernised heating solutions are increasingly attractive to buyers looking for long-term value and lower running costs. For anyone considering buying or selling property in Paphos, December is an excellent time to plan ahead for the new year, arrange valuations, or schedule consultations.

Pafos FC News and Highlights

Pafos FC had an impressive month, attracting attention both locally and internationally. Highlights over the past month include a major win in European competition and solid performances in the domestic league. The club also continued its community initiatives, including environmental projects such as harbour and coastline clean-ups.

Upcoming fixtures and European commitments mean that Pafos FC remains in the spotlight, contributing to the city’s growing profile and enhancing Paphos’s appeal as a vibrant and dynamic place to live.
